Up at 10:30 a.m. and had breakfast in our rooms. Nice to know we don't have to travel. Lazy day; sorted out our luggage from two weeks of hard travel. No problem settling in and Lee and Carole took some time to do the laundry. Merv and I walked down to the beach to scout it out. Lots of ladies were taking advantage of the sun. I think we found the right place. Same conditions prevailed around the pool. Enjoyed sitting on our balcony watching the parade. Up the hill for groceries in the afternoon and we found the prices to be close to what they are at home. Went for a swim in the unheated pool as we heard the ocean is too cold for swimming.

Phoned home at 5:00 p.m. (1320 escudos for 2 minutes). Everything fine. Made supper and found out why the rooms all have candles. No power for an hour or so. Had some games of rummy tiles in the evening, drank some excellent port and off to bed at midnight.
