Sunday, April 29th - Praia da Oura

Last day at Praia da Oura and up at 8:30 a.m. For once we had lots of hot water for showers. Buffet here looked fairly meager, so up the hill to the Oura Hotel for breakfast. Sky cleared at noon. Carole and Merv had an interesting morning. Seems that at 7:00 a.m. they were awakened by the sound of thunder. Going to investigate, they discovered an interesting phenomenon about southern Portugal; sometimes it rains umbrellas and patio chairs. There was some concern, as their patio was quickly filling up with unwanted furniture. Apparently, an older lady went beserk and while climbing from balcony to balcony she emptied them of furniture, most of which ended up with the Maxwell's. Security finally captured the culprit, but Merv and Carole couldn't help but duck for cover every time there was a loud noise for the rest of the day.

Another lazy day. Lounged around the room, snoozing and reading. Carlos (from the resort) had some fun early in the evening. He came out to the pool from the bar, carrying one of the young ladies from 4 doors down and stood on the edge, threatening to throw her in. With a little, very little I might add, encouragement from us, off he went, both into the pool. She won the wet t-shirt contest, hands down. Played rummy tiles before bingo, then down to Amanda's Bar at 9:30 p.m. No luck at bingo for any of us. Didn't like the game anyway. Back to the room and more rummy tiles. Off to bed at 11:30 p.m.
