Monday, April 23rd - Praia da Oura

Up at 8:30 a.m. Nicest day yet. The wind has died down and we have a bluebird sky. Laid on the beach until 2:00 p.m., then walked to the post office to mail cards to the kids. Passed some nice homes. We were approached 20 different times to view the facilities of different Clubs along the way. Might have been alright, but they always started with the same line, "You're British aren't you?" Ha! Forget it right there.

Carole and Merv came over for a drink in the late afternoon. Carole, observant as ever, discovered two young ladies four doors down from us stripped to nothing on their patio, taking pictures of each others tattoos. Merv and I thought that was okay, but for some strange reason, when Carole and Lee went down to reception to square up our bill for the last couple of days they seemed reluctant to leave Merv and me to our own devices. Funny, the young ladies appeared friendly enough and how much trouble could we get into? They even waved at Merv, and me with a camera full of unused film! Oh, well.

Lee and Carole thought they would be hassled to buy a time-share here when they went down to square the bill. Didn't happen and you could tell they were keenly disappointed. Still wondering when we're going to be hit up. Had supper, then down to bingo at 9:00 p.m. Played 13 games and Lee won a sweatshirt. Afterwards, hung around for some entertainment, back to the room at 10:30 and off to bed by 11.
