Up at 6:30 a.m. for final packing. Caught the bus to Lisboa with no problem. Nice quiet trip. Arrived in Lisboa on time (12:45 p.m.) and took separate taxi's to the airport. Brought back vivid memories of driving in Portugal.

Sad day; waiting for the bus out  All that luggage fit into the truck of a Renault 19  Our bus to Lisboa  Reentering Lisboa passing The Redeemer, a statue of Christ several hundred feet high

Checked in at Lufthansa without a hitch, had lunch, then up to the duty-free shops. More expensive than on the street, so no purchases. Best flight yet, with lots of leg room and very comfortable. We arrived in Frankfurt at 8:00 p.m. (lost an hour) and cabbed it to the Holiday Inn, booked and paid for in Edmonton.

There was a bit of a misunderstanding about whether breakfast was included in our package. Through perseverance, we won and up to our rooms. Five stars if ever I've seen one, with every imaginable comfort. Wonderful surprise for our last night in Europe.

Lee had checked in her cosmetic case in Lisboa and to her dismay, discovered a bottle of Poison perfume and three costume jewelry gold chains missing. A slight tragedy, but live and learn. Wasn't a great loss. Down for coffee and cake at 9:30 p.m. with Carole and Merv. Made plans for the following day, with Lee and I going downtown for a stroll and shopping while Carole and Merv had booked a city tour. Off to bed at 11:30 p.m. Very nice.
